Issyk-Kul I Meeting: August 2006

The Kyrgyz CELA team organized a week-long CELA brainstorming meeting at Issyk-Kul, Kyrgyzstan in August-September 2006. Some 20 CELA members from five countries attended. They produced a working document with strategic suggestions for strengthening the network, outreach to other constituencies, new possible events under the CELA aegis, and refining the summer workshops. Recommendations to introduce a governance structure into CELA, allowing members to shoulder more organizational responsibilities themselves, bore fruit in the elections for the nine CELA Country Consuls in 2007.
