Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan & Tajikistan to Receive Lifesaving Medical Supplies
Joint project of CELA TJ, KG, UZ
In July 2008 hospitals of Karakalpakstan, the Aral Sea Region of Uzbekistan received medical supplies due to the collaboration of CELA fellows with the SIBF Global Network Foundation (Atlanta, USA), MedShare International (Atlanta, USA) and Counterpart International (Washington, D.C.).
These four shipments of lifesaving medical supplies to countries of Central Asia have a market value of nearly one million dollars. The first one went out to only Tajikistan in 2005. One shipment went to Uzbekistan and one to Kyrgyzstan in 2007. And this last shipment to Karakalpakstan closes the project.
CELA fellows in Central Asia have assumed key roles in coordinating the effort by organizing logistical work in the fields and arranging cooperation with local Ministries of Health, health care departments and mass media to cover the project activity. CELA fellows would like to thank Angie Allen, SIBF sponsors/facilitators and other partners for making this project happen.
Angie Allen, CEO of Full Circle Living, whose mission is to identify, support, and help activate communities of people meaningfully contributing to the well-being of humanity and the world, notes, "We are indebted to our partners, to the generosity of many SIBF members, and to the young leaders in Central Asia who identified these vast needs and are committed to the success of these projects."
